In this issue we dwell on learning to sense the Valsalva Wave phenomenon using our own interoception. Our sensation of the body is our best form of biofeedback. But it can be confusing because there is so much going on that it is hard to discriminate specific phenomena. In this article, we learn to do that with the wave of blood generated by Coherent Breathing.

In celebration of 20 years of Coherent Breathing, Stephen Elliott takes us back to the beginning – how Coherent Breathing came to be – this involving his quest to understand the protocol for eliciting the Awakened Mind EEG pattern.

Humans are credited with having “5 senses”. Oddly, this definition constrains us to only those senses that relate to experiencing the external environment. Here I posit that “Internal State” is a 10th sense, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th senses, already having placeholders.

In 2013, I wrote an article titled “Does Coherent Breathing Wash The Brain?” This was building on the University of Rochester’s research titled: A Paravascular Pathway Facilitates CSF Flow Through the Brain Parenchyma and the Clearance of Interstitial Solutes, Including Amyloid β.  A new article out of The University of Miami titled: CSF-to-blood toxins clearance is modulated by breathing through cranio-spinal CSF oscillation, prompts me to ask the question again.

Respiración Coherente®, Volumen 3, Número 4:

There are mixed ideas about the integration of conscious breathing practice with the practice of Tai Chi. I am an advocate that “resonant breathing”, which must be trained consciously, just like any other skill, has a place in every aspect of life, circumstances permitting, and have personally found it to be “the key” to esoteric experience of lore, without which one cannot move forward, specifically including the practice of Tai Chi.

Many of you may have seen my recent note regarding the passing of dear friend and colleague Dolores Soriano Edmonson, RN, BCIAC-EEG. This article serves as my first memorial to knowing her.

This single page issue is written to punctuate Stephen Elliott’s recent Shift Network presentation: Essential Hypertension – A 20 Year Quest To End The Pandemic Before The Pandemic.

I am pleased to refer the reader to Tom Granger’s (of Draw Breath fame) 2023 presentation for Breathing Plus. Tom spent a day or two with us here in Pilot Point, Texas during his 2022 journey, featured in this Zoom recording. Hope you enjoy.

Be sure to see COHERENCE, Volume 1, Issue 4. An article detailing Stephen Elliott’s research into the electrical interaction between the body and Earth ground. This article describes the interaction and posits that it is related to “cellular respiration”.
